RevolutionTT Good Will Weekend – Open signups

Posted: 01 Jan 2009 12:03 AM CST

More good news in on the first day of year 2009! RevolutionTT (RevTT), one of the best private torrent trackers currently online, has just opened its doors to the public for 3 days! To put it short, RevolutionTT is a tracker that can rival TorrentLeech in content, pre times and download speeds.

At the time this post is being written, RevolutionTT has close to 40000 members (which is expected to rise as the news of open signup spreads) and tracks a whopping 16000+ torrents. It's a general tracker (movies, music, games, E-books, TV shows, software , zero day, etc)  which tracks both scene and p2p releases. Apart from individual torrents, RevTT tracks close to 1000 packs including complete TV season packs, movie collections and game packs.

It's not everyday that RevTT opens signups. The last public open signup was back in July which was almost half an year ago. There is a forum post about the latest good will weekend:

The staff at RevoTT are bringing in 2009 with a BANG! So it's time for another Good Will Weekend!
For one long weekend only, RevolutionTT will open it's doors from:
Friday 1/1/2009 00:00 GMT to Sunday 1/4/2009 23:59 GMT
So tell your friends, family members, or anyone to come join RevolutionTT
Have anyone wanting to join visit:
https://www.revolutiontt.net/happynewyear.php
Rules
- NO dupe accounts allowed.
- The doors may close early if max accounts are reached.

Don't forget that the RevolutionTT Holiday IRC bonus is also running till the 5th of January. It's an easy way to win gigabytes of free upload credit for your new RevolutionTT account. Also note the lines "doors may close early if max accounts are reached" in the quoted forum post. It's better to signup ASAP just to be on the safe side. Make sure you follow tracker rules and don't do anything stupid (cheating, dupes, etc) Around 3k new were banned after a previous open signup so RevTT staff and admins definitely know how to deal with cheaters and multi accounts.

Get offline updates for Kaspersky Anti Virus and Internet Security 2009 (v8.0) with Kaspersky Updater 3.1.0.7

Posted: 31 Dec 2008 11:12 PM CST

If you can remember, we previously posted an article about how and where to obtain offline virus definition updates for popular Anti Virus software. A method to manually update Kaspersky products was included in that article but here is as easier, shorter way of obtaining offline definition updates for KIS and KAV version 2009 (8.0) and other products.

Kaspersky Updater is a software designed by Kaspersky Labs itself. Until recently it was a command line only tool and was not that user friendly. However as of version 3.1.0.7 a GUI component has been added and things have become much more easier. Here is how you can manually update Kaspersky Internet Security and Kaspersky Anti Virus (and other products) using Kaspersky Updater: (Note – this tutorial is based on KIS 2009 and KAV 2009. Some steps may change slightly for other Kaspersky products)

  1. Download Kaspersky Updater base files from this link.
  2. Download Kaspersky Updater GUI component from this link.
  3. Extract both zip files to the same folder. Run KasperskyUpdater.exe
  4. Tick the Kaspersky product and version you need updates downloaded for and start updating. Wait till it finishes.
  5. Now open the application's (KIS, KAV or whatever Kaspersky app you downloaded updates for) main window
  6. Click the Settings button
  7. In the left part of the window select Update. In the right part of the window click the Settings button
  8. On the Source tab clear (un-tick) the box Kaspersky Lab's update servers
  9. Click the Add link. Browse the folder where you extracted Kaspersky Updater files in step 3. There should be a sub folder named Updates. Select this folder.
  10. Click OK to close each window. Run the update process. Kaspersky will now update with the downloaded virus definition files.

If you want to update another computer which does not have an internet connection, simply copy the updates folder to that computer and configure Kaspersky (Do steps 5-10 and give the location of copied Updates folder accordingly) as stated above.

Torrent-Damage back online, TDv2 launched

Posted: 31 Dec 2008 04:44 PM CST

Here is a quick update on Torrent Damage. As you may be aware, site and the BitTorrent tracker was down for about a week pending launch of TDv2. The upgrade is finally complete and the site is now fully functional. From what it looks like, TDv2 seems to be based on a customized version of the Gazelle codebase.

 tdv2 logo

The new interface has many pros over the previous layout. You can now order torrents and search results by seeders, date added, etc. In addition, forums and torrents searching has become much more accessible.

Currently there are two stylesheets to choose from (Light and Dark). The above screenshot is taken with the Dark stylesheet selected. A new set of category icons have also been added.  Apart from that the new layout looks sleek and navigates pretty fast.

It's indeed good news for existing members. If you are looking forward to get into this tracker, the only way in (as of now) is to obtain an invite. However, Torrent Damage is known to open signups from time to time. If it does indeed open public signups again, FILEnetworks Blog will definitely be updated with the news. Stay tuned.

Demonoid tracker

We take this opportunity to thank all the readers who sent us invitation codes by E-Mail and also those who gave away their invites in the comments section of our previous giveaway threads. It's always great to see people giving something back to the community.

As you may have noticed, there are over 60 invitation codes presented in this giveaway. This is more than twice the amount featured in the previous thread. So if you use one of these codes, please drop a comment saying "I used code number XX" so that others may not have to try out 65 different codes in their attempt to find an unused invite. This itself will be a great help to the community.

Make sure you respect Demonoid's rules. Read the FAQ before you do anything. Good Luck!

If you get an invalid code error, that means another reader beat you to it. We have no control of this as more than 8000 readers visit FILEnetworks Blog daily and a lot of them looking for free invites. If this happens, try your luck with the next giveaway (giveaway section can be found here) or keep an eye on our private trackers section for the next Demonoid (and other private trackers) open signup update.

If you get "We are full. Sorry, since the server is too saturated, we can not accept more members at the moment." error message, try the solutions mentioned in this article.

Any reader who wishes to share his codes with others are more than welcome to do so by posting a comment to this article (or you can send them to filenetworks[at]gmail[dot]com to be included in the next giveaway).

Keep reading FILEnetworks Blog – We have more cool giveaways planned for 2009!
